Who am I?
For a long time I suffered from CRPS, particularly in one arm. Physiotherapy returned function to my arm, however I couldn’t do anything for long, I couldn’t open doors, I couldn’t carry shopping and even writing one sentence with a pen hurt. I was dosed up on so much medication I couldn’t stay awake let alone study for my degree! But at the start of my 2nd year of university I found yoga; it changed every aspect of my life. I built strength and increased mobility, furthermore I learnt to use my breathing to overcome the pain, it woke me up and gave me joy. I am determined because I lost so much time. Now as a teacher, I hope to help others. The yoga poses I now practice aren’t all of who I am, nor are they a simple physical achievement. They are a visible manifestation of the impact yoga has had on my life, as well as in shaping the person I have become, ultimately making me, me.
